For the 8th year, artists came from France, Germany, Italy, USA, Canada and Palestine to the The European Pleinair Symposium held this year in Beit Jala Palestine from 13 to 21 May 2014. The Symposium is organized by Huber and Treff Gallery from Jena Germany and has been active since 2006.

2. Innovative, creative,
impulsive: these words are
currently being applied to
almost everything; and thus
they are degrading
increasingly into empty
clichés.
Innovativo, creativo, impulsivo:
queste parole sono attualmente
applicate a quasi tutto; e quindi
vanno degradando sempre più in
luoghi comuni vuoti.

3. Happily, that’s not the case with
the engaging art project
“European Pleinair
Symposium”. Behind these
three words lie genuine
creativity, innovation, and
impulsiveness.
Fortunatamente, questo non è il
caso con il progetto artistico di
impegno "European Symposium
Pleinair". Dietro queste tre parole
si trovano genuina creatività,
innovazione e impulsività.

4. As soon as one hears
that the project is
dedicated to the fine arts,
and to painting in
particular, it is clear that
we are dealing with
creativity and with artistic
expression.
Non appena si sente che il
progetto è dedicato alle belle
arti e alla pittura in particolare,
è evidente che abbiamo a che
fare con la creatività e
l'espressione artistica.

5. But not just with any form of
painting. At issue here is
painting en plein air. And
herein lies the first peculiarity
of the project. Recently,
plein-air painting has often
been relegated to the
sidelines, receiving little
attention although it is
anything but old-fashioned.
Ma non solo con qualsiasi
forma di pittura. In questione
qui è la pittura en plein air. E
qui sta la prima particolarità
del progetto. Recentemente,
la pittura en plein-air è stata
spesso relegata ai margini,
ricevendo scarsa attenzione,
anche se è tutt'altro che
vecchio stile.

6. In a most innovative manner,
this project brings plein-air
painting back into the limelight
by maintaining the focus of
plein-air painting on all-
encompassing nature. Here,
nature is understood as the
formative element for man and
especially for his art.
In modo più innovativo, il
progetto porta la pittura en plein
air di nuovo alla ribalta
mantenendo il focus della pittura
en plein-air come
onnicomprensiva della natura.
Qui la natura è intesa come
elemento formativo per l'uomo e
soprattutto per la sua arte.

7. Every region and every place
has its own characteristics,
distinctive features, and unique
moods—all of which deserve to
be captured. But the “European
Pleinair Symposium” is not
limited to its immediate
surroundings; rather, as the
name suggests, it applies to
European landscape.
Ogni regione e ogni luogo ha le proprie
caratteristiche, caratteristiche distintive, e
stati d'animo: tratti unici che meritano di
essere catturati. Ma il "Simposio Europeo
Pleinair" non si limita a qualche località
nelle immediate vicinanze; piuttosto, come
suggerisce il nome, si applica a tutto il
panorama europeo.

8. To this end, each year the
project is conducted in a
different European country in
order to bring together artists
from various nations.
A tal fine, ogni anno, il progetto è
condotto in un nuovo paese
europeo, anche al fine di riunire
artisti di varie nazioni.

9. Over the course of one week
the participating artists create
works of art en plein air, and
thus under the influence of the
surrounding natural landscape,
but also under the influence of
the other artists.

partecipanti creano opere d'arte en plein
air, sotto l'influenza del paesaggio naturale
circostante, ma anche sotto l'influenza
degli altri artisti.

10. The exchange—the interaction
with the other and the foreign—
is what distinguishes the
“European Pleinair
Symposium”.
Lo scambio, l'interazione con l'altro e lo
straniero è ciò che distingue il "Pleinair
Simposio Europeo”.

11. And even the inconspicuous
word “European” is deceptive,
since the project has now
been extended beyond
European borders, becoming
international as it sets off on
new paths in the coming
years.
E anche la parola "europeo"
risulta poi essere ingannevole, in
quanto il progetto è stato esteso
perfino oltre i confini europei,
diventando "internazionale"
secondo i nuovi progetti previsti
per i prossimi anni.
