Annemarie Gustava Marx
I am a Marketing & Communications Specialist with more than 15 years’ experience
in the field with a passion for strategy, projects, publications and digital
communication technology.
I am currently the Communication Specialist at the North West Development
Corporation (NWDC), the investment promotion/economic development agency for
the North West Province, where I am responsible for its communication strategy,
stakeholder communications, media relations and all the company’s digital and
social media platforms, which I have developed since taking office in 2012.
Before joining NWDC I managed the Communication Department at Impala Platinum
where I was responsible for internal and group communication. I reported directly to
both the Operational HR Executive and Implats’ Investor Relations Department,
situated at Implats’ Head Office in Illovo.

I was involved in the development and was responsible for the execution of the
communication strategy, aligning communication to the Implats business objectives. I
was responsible for managing the internal communication function, which includes
the communication department with numerous channels and staff.

to the needs of the operational audience and the Implats business strategy.
Inform and develop the internal communication strategy and internal

I was the assigned Communication Officer for Impala’s Mineral Processing Division,
responsible for all the communication needs of the division. Apart from maintaining
the division’s communication channels, I also developed a Vision & Values
campaign, a Walk the Talk drive for management and assisted in the annual World
Aids Day event.

2001 to 2004
I was the assigned Communication Officer for all the Services departments at
Impala’s Rustenburg Operations. Key responsibilities included preparing articles for
the Team Spirit (in-house magazine), servicing the communication needs of these
departments and conducting research projects. During this time I modernised
Impala’s Briefing Group system from a paper-based to an electronic system.
