2. Facts about the founders
● Bonita M. Bergin is a canine researcher.
● She invented the concept of service dogs.
● She founded and is the president of Bergin
University of Canine Studies
● She was a former special ed teacher before
she got into the business of service dogs.

3. CCI start up
● CCI was founded in 1975.
● The non-profit organization was formed
when Bonita visited Asia and saw that
they used donkeys to assist the
handicapped and it made her wonder if
she could do this with dogs in America.

4. CCI’s Mission
● Canine Companions for Independence
was founded to help the disabled by
giving the service dogs to assist them in
their needs. There mission is to help the
disabled that can not afford the help or
are desperate to find a solution to their
problems.

5. CCI’s Fundraisers
● CCI has several fundraisers a year to
make their organization money to help the
disabled. The money that is made goes
directly towards the cause and is used
only to help the disabled because they
are a non-profit organization.

6. ● CCI helps multiple types of disabled
people.
● They help children with mental disabilities
all the way to veterans that have suffered
an injury fighting for our country.
