Lesson plan: My family and what they do for a living.
Level: English IV
Unit: 2. Family relationships.
Objective: The student will talk about his/her family.

Activities:
Activity 1. Family vocabulary.
 Students will get familiarized with the family vocabulary by entering
the Link 1 where they can learn family words ant their meaning and
pronunciation. Do some exercises to practice the relationships
among the family members.
 This activity will be done either at home or at Mediateca.
Activity 2. Audioboo.
 SS will check Link 7 on how to create their account.
 The teacher will show how it works in the English Lab, explaining
about the profile, followers, following, messages, how to record an
audioboo and comments.
 This will take place in the English lab.
 SS will create their account.
 For homework they have to work with Audioboo at home or
Mediateca.
Activity 3. Create first Audioboo about their family.
 SS will have 2 weeks to create their first Audioboo where they will
talk about their family.
 SS have to check Links 2, 3 and 4 to watch some examples and
decide how they are going to do it.
 The teacher can help them with the script by checking them if SS
take them to the class or by using Google docs (which I have to learn
how to use well).
 SS will work in groups of 5 to assess their podcasts and choose the
best one. They will use a rubric to evaluate everyone in the group,
including themselves. For homework.
Activity 4. Create second Audioboo about their family, including what
they do for a living.
 SS will have 2 weeks to create their second Audioboo where they will
talk about their family and professions.
 SS have to check Link 6 to learn about different professions.
 The teacher can help them with the script by checking them if SS
take them to the class or by using Google docs (which I have to learn
how to use well).
 SS will work in groups of 5 to assess their podcasts and choose the
best one. They will use a rubric to evaluate everyone in the group,
including themselves.
Activity 5. Create their family tree with an online builder.
 SS will check Link 5 to learn more about a family tree.
 SS will download the family tree and create their family tree.
 SS will present them in class and everyone will vote for the best one.
Conclusions.
I think this is a different and fun way to make SS talk about their
family and learn the vocabulary needed for it. What better way than
to hear to real audios about family.
This is a very general idea and I have to detail it more.
I decided to work with Audioboo because I felt it’s easier to work
with.
