The Original Washbox is a self contained
trade tool wash system. Washbox does not require
permanent connection to mains water, and does not
discharge any liquid waste onsite. It uses its own
recycled water supply delivered through unique low
flow nozzles to allow trade people to wash their tools.
The Washbox’s automated process captures and
removes the waste from the washwater, and recycles
the washwater so it can be used for further washing.
Washbox requires permanent connection to
240v power during operation, and periodical water
connection to top up losses from splashing and
evaporation.
The hire of the system typically includes regular
maintenance by a trained technician to ensure the
continued uninterrupted use of the Washbox. This
Washbox excels at meeting the needs of trades on low
level broad sites, low rise construction and individual
maintenance and refurbishment projects.
Washbox is an Australian invention that provides a site based, totally closed loop tool wash solution for all construction and
maintenance sites. It removes and captures waste from the washwater generated, and recycles the washwater from all wet trades.
The Original BOX
Washbox is available in three forms:
Washbox can be used by Painters, Plasterers, Tilers,
Renderers, Bricklayers, Concretors, Landscapers and
virtually all water based construction products can be
safely washed into the system.
A team of just ten tradespeople uses more
than 150,000 litres a year in equipment washing. In a
community with Level 5 water restrictions, that is the
water needs for one person for almost three years.
Through the use of Washbox and its clever
technology, a large site such as a multi storey building
development could expect to save around 1,000,000
litres of water during the construction or renovation
phase, and the ability of the Washbox to remove waste
from the washwater will save more than 5 cubic metres
of paint, plaster, grout, fillers, cement and other water
based building products from entering our water assets
and environment.
Through the use of clever technology Washbox
is able to continuously recycle a small batch of water
used in the washing process, and the low flow nozzle
design both aids the tool cleaning process and extends
the life of the recycled water supply.
In most jurisdictions it is illegal to discharge
trade waste to the ground, storm water and waterways,
or to the sewer without a permit.
In addition to providing a controlled trade
washout process, the use of Washbox substantially
reduces the risk of onsite or off site uncontrolled waste
discharge, penalties for which in some states are
over $1 million for a company, and $250,000 for each
individual involved, and up to 7 year imprisonment.
01 This setup is often used in multi storey building
construction and involves the placement of a small wash
unit at various locations throughout the building with a
gravity fed waste line connected to one or more base
units, generally on the ground floor or basement. The tool
washing takes place on each level at a dedicated wash
station. Each wash station is designed to capture large
solids and then over flow to the base unit/s for further
processing. The system can provide a recycled water
supply and a sewer discharge if required.
Commercial buildings such as shopping centres,
hospitals, office towers, venues and public spaces
where ongoing maintenance and refurbishment occurs
can benefit from a permanent Washbox installation. A
permanent Washbox will trap waste before it goes into
the plumbing and sewer, and recycle the washwater
used. It will provide a controlled space where all wet
trades can wash their tools thereby protecting the
plumbing throughout the building from damage and
costly repairs caused by uncontrolled waste discharge.

Washbox was the first construction
washout system to be awarded the Smart
Approved Watermark for its clever water
reduction and recycling technology, and
also recognised by the Department of
Environment and Climate Change NSW.
Washbox has been used on the largest and most
environmentally sensitive projects in Australia since
2006. Due to Washbox’s unique ability to provide
liquid waste security to a construction site, it has
been used on such environmentally sensitive
projects as the Hayman Island and Magnetic Island
Resort Upgrades, LNG Project on Curtis Island,
Docklands in Melbourne, Darling Harbour, Harold
Park and Barangaroo in Sydney. Some of our other
major projects include Sydney Airport Extension,
Jacksons landing Sydney, Joondalup Shopping
Centre Perth, Royal North Shore Hospital, Canberra
National Building Project ACT, and Ipswich hospital.
Washbox is proudly used by some of Australia’s,
and the world’s largest constructors.
