A SEMINAR PRESENTATION ON
AMBIENT INTELLIGENCE
3. Ambient Intelligence: Environments that are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people.
In computing, ambient intelligence refers to electronic environments that
are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people.
4. Ambient intelligence is a vision on the future of customer electronics,
telecommunications, and computing that was originally developed
in late 1990s for the time frame 2010-2020.
A typical context of ambient intelligence environment is Home
environment.
More and more people make decision based on the effect their
actions will have no their own inner, mental world.
5. Unobtrusive Hardware
(Miniaturization, Nanotechnology, Sensors).
Seamless mobile/fixed communication
(wired and wireless networks).
Dynamic and massively distributed device network,
which is easy to control and program.
Human centric user interface
(intelligent agents, multimodal interaction).
Dependent and secure systems and devices
(self-testing, self-repairing software, privacy ensuring technology).
7. Large scale network of
computing devices
Personalize the living space
of humans
Ease access to Information
and Resources
On-demand
8. Speakers hidden behind wallpaper allows music to
follow you from room to room.
9. A high-tech sensor system helps guest monitor a room’s
climate and lighting.
The house uses its natural surrounding to reduce heat loss.
Xanadu 2.0 is an “earth-sheltered” house, meaning that it’s
built into its surroundings to regulate temperature more
efficiently.
You can change the artwork on the walls with just the touch
of a button . The pool also has its own underwater music
system.
11. Attractive future – blends:
Computing
Communications
Consumer electronics
Technological and Ethical
challenges need to be overcome
Social acceptance is critical
12. Increase safety in environment .
Improve human performance by helping people accomplish
tasks.
Will allow “the inhabitants [to] communicate there own
preferences” using a set rules.
Example: system adjusting temperature, lighting, and sound
within a home .
Public transportation.
People given information indirectly.
14. Ambient technology through the use of sensors and profiling
technologies.
Legal, ethical, social, and security issues need to be addressed
during its development.
Home users interested in saving time and safety as well as
entertainment.
