construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

2. What is new new media?
•
A generic term for the many different forms of electronic communication that are made
possible through the use of computer technology. The term is in relation to "old" media
forms, such as print newspapers and magazines, that are static representations of text and
graphics. New media includes:
• Web sites
• streaming audio and video
• chat rooms
•
e-mail
• online communities
• Web advertising
• DVD and CD-ROM media
• virtual reality environments
• integration of digital data with the telephone, such as internet telephony
• digital cameras
• mobile computing
Use of the term new media implies that the data communication is happening between desktop
and laptop computers and handhelds, such as PDAs, and the media they take data from, such as a
compact and floppy disk.
3. Within my planning and research I only used Prezi
for one task. Prezi is a Hungarian software
company, producing a cloudbased presentation software and
storytelling tool for presenting ideas on a virtual
canvas.The product employs a zooming
user interface , which allows users to zoom in
and out of their presentation media, and allows
users to display and navigate through
information within a 2.5D or parallex 3D space
on the Z-axis.
Prezi allowed me to be slightly more creative as
it was a lot more visual that many other
programs I used, for example powerpoint.
PowerPoint is ver simple just allowing you to go
over to the next slide, howver with prezi you
follow the map along in a avery animated way.
4. Slideshare is website that allows you to upload PowerPoint's
you have made so then can be seen on the website by
others using Slideshare. It also allows you to embed you
uploaded PowerPoint's to website in my case to blogger.
I used Slideshare for a few of my tasks, It allowed me to
upload my PowerPoint's to make them accessible to for
everyone to see. Without Slideshare I would have had to try
and find another website similar on the internet, however I
may possibly not be able to find one so wont be able to
upload my PowerPoint's ad will have to fine something else
to do them one.To the right is an example of one of my tasks
uploaded my slideshare, it allows you to make the slide full
screen so you can view the slide more clearly.
It also allows you to change the pages with the navigation
buttons and let you go straight the the slideshare website
with the link.
5. Gmail is a free email system powered by Google, that
allows you to send webmail. Emails allow you to send
information to people over the internet via the service
provided by Google.
I used this system to send myself work from home to
school, this was an easy and fat way of transporting my
work in a safe and secure way. For example I was using a
USB stick however it broke causing me to lose some pieces
of work. But with the use of web 2.0 emailing as became a
more popular form of communication that allowed me
send myself my tasks without the need for anything
physical such as a USB stick or papers.
I also used the use of email to email the
record/production company that my artist was signed too
and released the song from to ask for there permission
whether using there song was acceptable.
I sent them an email as it was the quickest and more
effective way of contacting them, it was also free. If I had
penned them a letter it would of taken longer and been
very expensive the record company is based in the USA.
7. YouTube
YouTube was another service I used this was
used for the main part of my assignment, to
upload my music video. YouTube allowed me
to upload my video for free for the world to
watch. Without this I may not of been able
to complete my assignment as the task was
to make an end product of a music video
and the technology of YouTube.
YouTube also allowed me to take feedback
from people that watched my video as it
allows an area for comments to be left so
those watching can tell me what they think
and I can take this into consideration and
improve my video perhaps.
8. Blogger
Blogger was the website I based my
whole assignment around. All my
tasks were unloaded to blogger as
place for my teachers peers and
those examining my work can see.
Blogger allowed for my work to be all
kept in one place so I didn’t have to
use several websites to store my
work. It also made it easier as it was
all in one place and could be changed
whenever by the editing feature
given my blogger, that allowed you to
change you posts whenever you
wanted.
9. MindMiester
MindMeister is an online mind mapping
software that allows its users to visualize
their thinking. I used MindMeister for task 9
this is a task where I had to map out my
initial ideas for my music video. Using this
programme online saved me using a pen
and paper and drawing out a mind map
then having to take a picture and upload it
then upload it to my blog. It was much
faster as I had to do was complete my mind
map using MindMeister online them embed
it to my blog using the embed code when I
was finished.
10. Mac Book Pro
Within my work I used the help of my MacBook Pro
laptop. This is one of the best and most popular
laptops on the market designed and made by the
Apple company. This piece off equipment helped
me to type up all my tasks and most importantly
edit my music video. Without my laptop I wouldn't
of been able to purchase and download software
such as Premiere Pro; used to edit my music video
and Photoshop; used to create my digipak and
advert. Premiere Pro is a piece of editing software
that I used o edit my music video.
