2. Ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to teach. At the age of three I would line up my dolls to teach them the alphabet, which back then consisted of only ten letters. I graduated from FIU in 2004 with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and began teaching at Riverside Elementary.
3. I am currently in my fifth year teaching and have taught fifth grade throughout all five years. Every year has been marked by its own challenges and successes. Although I always dreamed of teaching kindergarten, I wouldn’t trade my fifth graders for the world. This year has been great in the sense that I am trying new techniques that I’ve learned through the master program. My students love that I have homework too! My fourth year teaching required me to adapt my instruction to constantly challenge my students intellectually. Towards the end of the school year I was teaching sixth grade content! This year was particularly rewarding because I had a greater understanding of how to meet the needs of my students Spent most of the time researching exceptionalities. Learned that individualized instruction is really the key to student success. My first year was extremely challenging because I had to learn the curriculum and everything was a new experience. Year 5 Currently teach an Extended Foreign Language class Year 4 Taught an Extended Foreign Language class. Year 3 Taught an Inclusion class Year 2 Taught an Inclusion class. Year 1 Taught Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies.
4. On a personal note, I will be celebration my three year wedding anniversary next month. Although my husband and I have been together for almost a decade (we’re high school sweethearts!) we have just recently began to live together. Arek was in the Navy for six years, so our first year of marriage was spent on a plane flying to visit him in Virginia any chance I got.
5. I am the loving mother of an adorable 18 month old Labrador Retriever named Tyler. As you can probably tell, Tyler is a little spoiled. He has his own seatbelt, three beds, a private pool, and received more holiday gifts than anyone else in the family. He also has a great fashion sense.
6. When I’m not at work or doing homework, I like to spend time with my family, reading a book, or shopping.
7. I love to travel and try new experiences. I am a big fan of historical sites and museums, as well as outdoor activities. I’m not afraid to hike volcanoes or swim in waterfalls, but as I discovered last winter, snow is not my friend!
