9. CTRL + R will bring up Rulers, you can drag Guides out of the
rulers to help with alignment. You can also turn on Snapping
(in the View menu) to snap layers to the guides

when clicking on a handle to scale in perspective mode:
11. Shape Tools
You can use the Shape tools to
make basic shapes (circle,
square, polygons).

In the top option bar you can choose the Fill & Stroke
colors, and stroke weight for the shape.
12. Layer Styles are great for quickly and easily changing the
appearance of a layer (double click a layer to bring up the Styles menu)

13. Make selections using Alpha Channels to include
transparency in the selection
1. Copy the most prominent color channel by
dragging it to the new channel icon
2. Select this new Channel and hit the „Make

15. You can add lighting effects to change the tone or
mood of an image. (Make sure to save before
working with lighting effects!)
Lighting works only on single layers, if you want to
affect your entire image you need to Flatten it first
(Layer > Flatten Image), However you should save a
copy of your work with layers first in case you want
to go back and make changes.
16. You can add a blur to image. This can
be used for purely aesthetic reasons, or
to bring focus to an area, or to hid
imperfections in an outlaying area.
17. The Filter Gallery has many options to change the look of an image by adding
texture or simulating painted effects. You can layer multiple effects and each has
a number of sliders to adjust the outcome.
18. You can turn any shape or image into a brush (Edit > Define Brush Preset)
Or, you can download brush sets from the internet
19. The Brush Panel has many, many ways to
create unique and interesting brushes

can get many result from a
single round brush (see chart
