2. CPU
0 CPU - Central Processing Unit.
0 A CPU is very important for the computer, it controls
all of the components in the computer and checks
them.
0 A CPU is basically the brains of a computer.
3. RAM
0 RAM – Random Access Memory
0 The good thing about having Ram is that, you can
have more than one program open at the same time
without slowing the computer down.
4. NIC Card
0 NIC – Network Interface Card
0 The NIC allows computers to be joined together in a
LAN, or a local area.
5. Heat Sink
0 A heat sink is very important, it is used to cool the
CPU so it does not overheat.
0 Basically the heat sink pulls the heat from the CPU.
0 The heat sink get hot while the CPU cools down
0 The system fan then pulls the hot air out of the
case.
6. Memory
0 There are lots of types of memory, which are,
0 Ram- Random accesses memory, which basically makes the
computer faster.
0 Rom- found on the motherboard, data is stored in to the Rom, the
data in there cannot be modified, its mainly used to distribute
firmware.
0 Flash drive- flash drive memory does not need power to keep the
information on there. It is a removable storage device.
7. Adapter cards
0 There are also a lot of adapter cards,
0 Video card- allows graphic capability on the expansion card
0 NIC- it allows the computer to connect to the internet wirelessly or
can be a weird connection.
0 Audio card- it lets you control your music or something that comes
out of the computer which means that you can use things like
headphones and speakers.
0 PCI- can either be a 32 bit or a 64 bit slot on the motherboard
0 PCIe- is a serial bus expansion slot and has a x1, x4, x8 and x16.
0 PCMCIA- is a association that choose laptop expansion card
standards.
