hypothesis through a clearly written procedure. Can extend through analysis and creating arguments
when necessary.

Meets all criteria of numbers 1 & 2. The student can isolate all variables and academic vocabulary from a
given experiment along with identifying the control group and forming a thought provoking conclusion.
The student uses the correct format when identifying parts of the scientific method. The student is able
to make valid arguments for how an experiment could be improved upon.

Meets all criteria for number 1. The student knows common academic vocabulary (including ind. and
dep. variables and the steps of the scientific method, control group, and controlled experiment).
