9. REACH OUT TO YOUTH
SAFETY FOR OUR NEIGHBORS
Jami is a widowed, single, working mother of three:
• Aiden – 5 years old
• Andrea – 6 years old
• Ariel – 8 years old
She is a hard worker trying to provide the best that she
can for her children, but regardless money is limited
since she is the sole provider.
Jami does not have the money to afford childcare and
her place of employment is not all that understanding
of her situation. Needless to say, she could not afford
working less.
The Y has Jami and her babies backs. Because of the
Y Cares Financial Assistance Program Jami’s
children will receive safe, supervised afterschool care.

PERSONAL IMPACT
In 2010, I had reached a record high in regards to my
weight. My body image was beyond negative and I was
the epitome of self-conscious and down on myself. I
felt gross and ugly and did not physically like who I saw
when I looked in the mirror. I had no confidence
whatsoever.
The Y changed that. After signing up for my
membership, I began going to the Y close to every
morning. After lots of hard work and dedication I
dropped 30 pounds and reached the healthiest and
happiest time of my life.
I want others to have the opportunity I did, which is why
this campaign means so much to me.

CALL TO ACTION
So, how can you help? Great question!
Consider making a pledge (or promise) to me to donate
to the Y this year. You can schedule a date to make a
donation, make monthly payments or even donate today.
The money raised will be used to provide financial
assistance to individuals and families, so, like us, they too
can take advantage of the Y’s wonder services – so much
more than simply a workout facility.
100% of donation benefits community members (no
administration percentage, etc.)
Yes, your donation is tax deductible!
Y members pay membership fees to belong to the Y, but
these membership fees are used towards operational
expenses such as utilities, employee salaries, equipment,
etc. These fees are not used to provide financial assistance
to others. Hence, why this campaign is so important for the
ocean community.
