This document provides statistics on the banking sector in Ukraine from 2008 to 2014. Some key points: - The number of banks with a banking license fluctuated between 175-184 from 2008-2012 but then increased to 181 in 2013 and 181 in the first quarter of 2014. Foreign-owned banks accounted for around 50-55 banks. - Foreign capital as a percentage of authorized bank capital was around 35-41% from 2008-2012 but then decreased to 33.6% in the first quarter of 2014. - Total bank assets grew from 599 billion UAH in 2008 to over 1.3 trillion UAH in the first quarter of 2014. Loans constituted the largest portion of bank assets.
