To score a touchdown in football, an offensive play is selected in the huddle to advance the ball downfield. After gathering in formation at the line of scrimmage, the quarterback will say "hike" to start the play. Players then run their routes as planned while the quarterback may pass the ball or hand it off, with the aim of getting the ball into the end zone without being tackled to score the touchdown. An extra point kick through the goal posts is then attempted.
