OUR BLOG! The Universal Language
English: Universal Language Really universal primary role for the English language, mother tongue of 400 million people in a dozen countries. It is estimated that another 400 million speak and understand as a second language and hundreds of millions more have some basic knowledge of it, moreover, has official or semiofficial position in nearly 70 countries. (For the number of the latter, two areas stand out: the West Indies and Africa, although among the countries with more angloparlantes be mentioned, as well as U.S. and United Kingdom, India and the Philippines.)The English language is common in several countries where many languages are used, as in India, where over 700 spoken (and where only 30 percent of its more than one billion people know the officer, who is Hindi) .
It is estimated that the world speak more than 5000 different languages, from Mandarin Chinese (used by more than 800 million people in East Asia) to some that are used in the isolated valleys of the island of New Guinea, spoken just a few hundred individuals. The Chinese, in their different varieties, is used as a means of oral and written by one of every five people on Earth, mainly in the PRC, Taiwan, Singapore and other minorities that live in Southeast Asian countries.
Today the number of people able to speak in the language of Shakespeare's towering global round of 1500 million, which represents about a quarter of the earthlings. On the other hand, it should be noted that it is the most commonly taught language in the world: in 89 countries is the common language and is studied extensively. Examples of this very palpable, the nations have in East and Southeast Asia, like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan or South Korea, with strong U.S. investment, which has been official policy on English language preparation of large numbers of population, which is seen as a strength to deal with new technologies.
Concepts! English is a language originating in northwestern Europe, which belongs to the Germanic branch of Indo-European languages, which took place in England, spread from its origin in the British Isles and many of its former overseas colonies.English is probably the third language in the world in number of speakers who are native speakers (between 300 and 400 million people), and the second most spoken, behind Mandarin Chinese, if you count those who have it also as a second language (200 million people).
History! English, England extending their language around the world (British Empire), and becoming the United States of America in the greatest economic and military power, has become the de facto lingua franca of our day.Despite the existence of other languages and international languages like Esperanto or Interlingua looking to use more neutral language, English is today the main language of international communication. This is because a "civilization" dominant usually does not take another language, but on the contrary, it imposes its own, this is the reason why in many European countries speak languages derived from Latin, As this is the official language of the Roman Empire.
