With many alternative cooling solutions available it can be confusing as to which most improves efficiency and reduces operating costs for your data centre? Airedale International Air Conditioning Ltd will demonstrate the benefits and constraints of your options to propose an optimised free-cooling solution for each application type, using CFD modelling and actual site data to demonstrate best practice.
This presentation was delivered at DatacenterDynamics 2012 by George Hannah. George Hannah is Product Development Director for Airedale International Air Conditioning Ltd. He plays a key role in strengthening Airedale’s position at the forefront of precision air conditioning and chiller development, by leading an expanding programme of new product development and the application of new generation technology. His remit is to steer the company's expansion into developing rack level cooling systems and innovative cooling solutions that increase data centre efficiency, raise free-cooling potential and harness and reclaim energy. George heads a product development team of twenty three, including sponsored PhD students and graduate apprentices. He is a chartered mechanical engineer with a B Eng (Hons) from Heriot Watt University. For more information, please visit http://www.airedale.com/dcd

8. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics
“The second law states that spontaneous natural processes
increase entropy overall, or in another formulation that
heat can spontaneously be conducted or radiated only
from a higher-temperature region to a lower-
temperature region, but not the other way around.”

The chillers give us 1500kW n + 1 cooling plus a
stunning reduction in electricity consumption i.e.
2.5 times cooling capacity for 100 – 150kW less
power consumption per day.

The InRak is perfectly designed…the units are very
clever; they ‘talk’ to each other and maintain pressure
in the room. ACIS gives us 24/7 control of the
operation and peace of mind.
