Slide and elaboration  by Antonio Florino
The construction of the building began in the late 16th century by a nobleVolterran, Attilio Dating, Minister of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. The facade, attributed to Bartolomeo Ammannati, is forty feet long and sixteen feet wide. Two incomplete wings enclose two small courtyards on which the windows of the theater Persio Flacco overlook. The original design included a large colonnaded courtyard overlooking the valley. In 1816 the family sold part of the ground floor meetings including the unfinished courtyard where later the theater was buil t.
Benedetto Giuseppe Viti, a seller of alabaster and extensive traveler, bought the building in 1850 and made radical changes to the interior. Further renovations were carried out in preparation for the royal visit of Vittorio Emanuelein 1861.
 
 
Great staircase Built in the early '600 designed by the Florentine G. Caccini, has walls decorated with "faux marble". All the sculptures and pedestals in marble, alabaster, wood and stone are the works of the factory screws, the most important of Volterra in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
 
 
 
Ballroom The corners and the two famous monumental alabaster chandeliers made for Maximilian of Hapsburg Emperor of Mexico, remained unsold because of his shooting took place in Queretaro in 1867, within the bulbs were lit with oil lamps. The other alabaster chandeliers and columns, all the factory bolts, go back to the first half of 1800.

Lounge Brachettone Two beautiful coffered Lombard Louis XVI style made by Joseph Beetles (the most famous furniture maker of 1700) with over two cabinets of ebony inlaid with ivory in 1600. Rare and valuable bureau burr walnut with ebonized pear wood threads and rare corner element, certainly from the workshop of the Beetle, both mobile Lombard in 1700. Three beautiful coffee table mosaic alabaster hardened, colored bathroom, unique and unrepeatable works of the factory screws.

  • 2. The construction of the building began in the late 16th century by a nobleVolterran, Attilio Dating, Minister of the Grand Duke of Tuscany.
