GNSS offers services at no cost, but is it really free?
• GNSS synchronization is the most accurate method for
meeting 5G timing requirements
• However, it works poorly or not at all in:
• Urban canyons due to limited sky view
• High multipath environments (signal shredding)
• Indoors environment due to excessive attenuation
• It is susceptible to spoofing and jamming, potentially
compromising its security
• These disadvantages are due to the slow movement of
GNSS satellites, their reliance on older technology with
limited security and their very high altitude, which
weakens signal strength when it reaches the ground
