2. Peer Feedback - Media
To gain the media information, we
were given sheets which were then
given out to our peers when they
reviewed our video in class.
From our first group of
feedback, they listed that our
music video sequence had good
lip-syncing and performance as
well as the video running
smoothly. Although they
suggested that we add more lip-
syncing into the clip as well as
stage the dance better.
For the advert feedback, they
stated that it matched the mood
of the song and suggested we
change the title font.
3. Peer Feedback - Media
To gain the media
information, we were given
sheets which were then given
out to our peers when they
reviewed our video in class.
From our second group of feedback
about our music video spoke of our
strong use of technology skills and
that the second half of our music
video was stronger along with the
variation of pace. They suggested
we lighten the darker shots due to
been able to see the lip-sync and
add more shot transitions.
For the advert they said it uses the
same theme as the video and good
use of edit. They suggested that we
think about a more appropriate
picture and font due to been unable
to read it.
4. Peer Feedback - Media
To gain the media
information, we were given
sheets which were then given
out to our peers when they
reviewed our video in class.
From our final group feedback of our
music video, they spoke about the good
variety of shots and mise en scene as
well as good editing. They also
suggested that we lighten the darker
shots and to move the flips to where
she is sat down in the sequence.
For the advert, they put it was good
reflection of the video and it was good
with following conventions. They
suggested take some information of the
bottom of the advert due to it been
overcrowded and remove Thomas so
that the main star Bronte is the focus.
5. Peer Feedback - Media
To gain the media information, we were given
sheets which were then given out to our peers
when they reviewed our video in class.
From the digipak feedback, he mentioned that the
digipak is very minimalistic and reflective of what
you expect from Florence – linking us back to her
style. It also looks very sophisticated and stylish as
well as contain all the conventions.
He suggested that could add a few more images of
the artist onto the digipak.
The second set of feedback he said about
how the digipak really reflected the video
well. He suggested that the inside of the of
the digipak didn’t match the front so it
didn’t reflect the video.
For the final feedback he said that the digipak
was well laid out and contains all the features
expected. He also stated that the copyright
information was very clear although he
suggested that we could relate to the genre
better and the inner panels seem bare.
6. Peer Feedback - Friends
To gain the media information,
I sent a YouTube link of our
music video to my friend and
asked them a series of
questions in which they
answered in detail.
From my first friend’s feedback, her personal opinion of our narrative was
that it was a love story within a picture frame and that she had some regret
and ran away. She found that the video ran smoothly and was immersive and
that the clips did hit the beat of the drums in the song. When asked about the
effects, she particularly liked the transitions and candles overlay effect used
during the dancing scene. She also enjoyed the reverse effect clips at the end.
She suggested that I add more scenes in different places and she agreed that although she
wasn’t a big Indie fan, she believed that we had followed conventions.
7. Peer Feedback - Friends
To gain the media
information, I sent a
YouTube link of our music
video to my friend and
asked them a series of
questions in which they
answered in detail.
My second friend thought the
narrative was quite old-fashioned
and also a mixed message from the
narrative and that it just matched
the song. She found that the video
was quite immersive and that only
some of the clips hit the beat and
that the effects were a nice touch
to the video and she particularly
enjoyed the dance scenes.
She suggested that I fix the video so that it ran
more smoothly and improve some of the dance
sequence so that they hit the beat some more.
8. Peer Feedback - Friends
To gain the media information, I
sent a YouTube link of our music
video to my friend and asked
them a series of questions in
which they answered in detail.
My third friend said that the structure of the narrative was very good and that she felt that the
woman was been blinded by love for this one guy and feels like she didn’t exist, it felt like she was
imprisoned by her love and finally gained strength to escape and move on. She found it immersive
and that the video ran smoothly and that the clips hit the beat especially during the music when it
got slow. She found that the effects appealed to her because it helped her understand what the
video was about and gave her an idea of the emotions represented.
She suggested I add more eye-catching effects to try and make the scene more intense
emotionally and that we challenged typical Indie Conventions.
9. Overall feedback
Overall the thought beats of the video were good as they matched the clips and created a smooth
running video. Like Carol Vernallis theory ‘The camera moves in time with the music and ‘Close up’s
and master shots are often used’. Although all of them had different narrative meanings, they all
matched similarly to ours so our message was quite clearly shown through out the beginning in our
cynical narrative. In our video, it contains Andrew Goodwin theory of ‘Relation of visual to a song’ as
our video as a mixture of amplification and illustration because some of the scenes such as the
candles were used to create meaning with the lyrics while others has no meaning towards the lyrics
at all. With the lip-sync clips, they found that it matched well with lyrics and created a realistic tone to
the video. The use of effects had an positive effect on our audience and they though the use of
technology was a strong point through out our sequence.
The lightening during some of the video was not good, as it would go dark during some of the lip-
syncing making it difficult to see if she was doing it or not. They also suggested that we staged the
dance better.
For the advert, they thought that it contained brand identity, as you could relate the advert towards
the video. They also liked how it was themed to the mood of the song and our advert showed a good
use of Photoshop editing skills.
They said that we should remove our secondary actor Thomas as Bronte is the main star image as
well as to remove some of the information on the overcrowded advert.
For the digipak we need to take in consideration the design between the inner and outer of the
digipak and that we could add more photographs to the digipak.
10. Future focus:
What I have learnt from the feedback that I need to take care with details
which could have an effect on my video and organize my filming so that it
suits the pace of the song. I learnt that I have a stronger technology
understanding since working with final cut longer which has improved my
skills.
I can improve by remembering my previous mistakes made during filming
and use these as a guideline to help with planning on a future project. I can
also improve by being more organized next time, so that when filming we
are not stopped by problems with mise en scene.
Areas I need to take care with the lip-sync when filming and make sure that I film
each angle with all the lyrics so that I do not run out of clips. I have also learnt that
I need to take care when it comes to lightening, as you couldn’t see the lip-sync
and it ruins the video has you cannot see what is going on and a lot of clips we
couldn’t use due to lighting problems.
