                                         With the introduction of DOCSIS 3.0, many cable operators will start to
                                         consolidate their clustered networks towards streamlined operations. This
                                         will include a dramatic reduction in the number of content hubs hosting
                                         video servers, satellite broadcast receivers and Internet peering points.
                                         Combined with expected bandwidth growth in coming years, network
                                         migration can only be supported by building new backbone networks
                                         based on highly scalable optical transport technology offering simplicity,
                                         scalability and disruptive cost-per-bit metrics.
                                         Another trend associated with bandwidth growth in cable networks is the
                                         migration of Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS) closer to the end
                                         user, therefore increasing the available capacity by reducing cluster sizes.
                                         Efficient and reliable backhaul of broadband traffic from new CMTS
                                         locations becomes an additional challenge for cable operators, leading to
                                         deployment of fiber deeper into the access network and the adoption of
                                         Ethernet-centric optical backhaul technology. Critical also to business
                                         services is the requirement for very high network availability and this is
                                         another consideration for cable operators in their network evolution
