The student evaluated their cover page and contents page created for a college magazine. They believe their bright cover appeals to the target audience of 16 to 19 year old college students. Their layout is easy to understand. For their contents page, they used colored text on a dark background to stand out. While successful in using InDesign and Photoshop, the student found InDesign features challenging to use. They would improve their understanding of the technology for future work.
1. Evaluation
1. How successful was it? / Did you successfully apply conventions?
2. What did you learn?
3. If you were to do it again, what would you do differently?
My evaluation is on a cover page and contents page to a college magazine. My
target audience is college students aged 16 to 19. I think that my cover appeals
to my target audience because it is bright and attracts the reader’s attention.
My layout is well spread out and easy to understand, so as not to squash
anything in, which makes it easier for the reader to take in the text. My
contents page is similar to my cover, and features brought coloured text on a
dark background so as to make it stand out more and grab the reader’s
attention. I designed my cover and contents pages using InDesign and
Photoshop. I think I successfully used these programs to create my magazine,
and I think my research and planning was also successful in helping to develop
ideas for the cover, however I found it hard to use all the features on InDesign
to better create my cover. This is something I would improve upon and do
differently if I have to, so as to better understand the technology and better
apply conventions to my final creation. I have learnt what is used to develop a
magazine, and how to use InDesign and Photoshop to create a basic contents
and cover page, however I would wish to improve upon the quality of my work
for next time
