Take in a movie in Somerset House’s lovely courtyard – perfect. This
season includes the UK premiere of Walter Salles’s adaptation of On
the Road, a month before you can catch it in your local cinema.

3. Foodies

This is the festival for foodies. With tastings and master classes with
well-known chefs and food industry personalities including Levi
Roots, Ed Baines and Gary Lee, there's also a Food of Love Cinema,
where food featured in films are served to the audience. VIP tickets
include a two-course meal with champagne – how can you not?

Well it had to feature. Amazing floats, music and a buzz you can’t

This amazing festival takes place between Westminster Bridge and
Tower Bridge, with an incredible programme of events beside the
Thames. Check out the closing firework display if nothing else.

6. Open House

Some tickets may be
required.
So it’s not an open bar… this event gives you the chance to view
some amazing buildings for free. This includes snooping around
government buildings, private houses, schools, town halls…
This year's theme is 'the changing face of London’ - among the
famous faces are the Gherkin.

Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry and royal wedding cake designer Fiona
Cairns (remember that crown cake at the Jubilee?) are among the
baking aces appearing at the Cake & Bake Show. With plenty to see
including demos, tastings, workshops, a food market and equipment
stands, this is a must if you’ve got a sweet tooth.

We’re all for feeding your hunger, how about feeding your soul?
In association with the Oldie Magazine, check this high-brow festival
for author-led talks and events by a range of writers including Giles
Coren, Jeremy Vine, Fay Weldon, Michael Palin, Pam Ayres and
Michael Frayn.
9. Photomonth

This annual East London photography festival takes place over two
months (do we think they know that?). Open for submissions right
now, if you’re feeling hipster enough…
Highlights include the Photofair at Old Spitalfields Market and the
Photo-Open exhibition.
10. Lord Mayor’s

Begins at Mansion House,

Welcome to the new Mayor of London! We’re looking forward to
seeing the new Boris – so let’s welcome him in in style…
We’re loving the slightly bling 254-year-old State Coach. This is real
English-style celebrating at its best – aircraft flybys, marching bands
and floats… followed by fireworks.
