1. Mountain Peak Message
To the Soldiers and Families of 2nd Brigade Combat Team:
After a well earned rest during summer block leave, we want to thank the Soldiers and Families
of 2nd Brigade for their dedication and hard work this past week.
It is difficult to come back to work and jump right into preparations for a training exercise like
Mountain Peak, but as we’ve come to expect, our Soldiers have done so very well indeed.
Mountain Peak 2012 will be the largest training exercise this Division has executed on Fort
Drum in the past decade. Its design is to prepare both 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as elements
of the Combat Aviation Brigade for an upcoming rotation to the National Training Center and
ultimately for deployment overseas by building on the recent overseas experience of 3rd Brigade
and the CAB. The importance of this training cannot be overstated, it is essential. This training
event provides a foundation that enables us to solidify our Squads, Sections, Platoons,
Company’s and Battalions integrating our new leaders and Soldiers into the framework of what
they anticipate on our next deployment.
We also wish to extend our gratitude to the Families of our Soldiers for their support in making
this past week’s preparations a success. Our Army is strong because of our Soldiers and our
Soldiers are strong because of their Families. We know that our success in the future will be
because of your outstanding support.
Thank you for all you do for our Nation and our Soldiers.
Commandos!
