The document presents a behavioral model of information seeking on the web developed by Choo, Detlor & Turnbull in 1998. The model identifies four modes of information seeking on the web: undirected viewing, conditioned viewing, informal search, and formal search. Each mode is associated with different information seeking behaviors and tactics. The model was tested in a pilot study that found results were compatible with the proposed modes and behaviors.
