Can Challenge
By: Justin Curran and Teddy Schmid
Goal

The goal of this experiment is to
Create an insulator that will keep the soda can the
warmest
Materials

Cardboard box
Bubble wrap
Aluminum Foil
Tape
Styrofoam
Sharpie
Box Cutter
Scissors
Procedure

- Insulating case will be for a standard 355 mL soda
  can.
- The soda can will be placed in the insulator that is
already mostly immersed in ice water.
- It will then be filled with 100mL boiling water and
a thermometer will be inserted. When the
temperature reaches 70⁰C, the insulator will be
closed and a stopwatch will be used to time it for
  20 minutes.
Insulator Specifications

The maximum possible size of
an insulator is 10 cm x 10 cm x
20 cm.
Creating our insulator

First cut a 10 cm Cardboard Box vertically and cut it 40
     cm horizontally
Cut a piece of aluminum foil 37 cm horizontally and 10
     cm vertically
Tape the foil on the inside of the cardboard box
Next

Tape Bubble Wrap 37 cm on the inside of the insulator
Fold the insulator into 4 sides
 Tape 4 sides together
Cut a piece of Styrofoam so it covers the bottom of
the vessel
Get one more piece of Styrofoam and tape one side
so it flaps open.
