1. Protocol for Second Feedings
Who?





All baby animals up to 6 months old
All pregnant animals
All small dogs
All emaciated or thin animals
All nursing moms
Who decides?
 Staff who intake the animal
 Vet staff
 ACAs who handle an animal and find that it’s too thin
Communication
 Notes on salmon colored sign :“SECOND FEEDING”
 If the animal is moved, the sign should be moved with
him/her
 If the animal is not eating, a yellow card should be added
with the date and your signature
 If the animal is having diarrhea, this should also be noted on
the yellow card
Feeding
Walk thru each ward to see if there are notes “SECOND
FEEDING”
