The Last Post is a trumpet or bugle call sounded each night at 10 pm to mark the end of the day and at military funerals and commemorative services as a final farewell for the dead. During the sounding of The Last Post, members in uniform stand at attention and salute while armed parties present arms as a symbol that the duty of the dead is over and they can now rest in peace. At Remembrance Day ceremonies, The Last Post is precisely sounded at 11 am.
