What kind of media institution would distribute your evaluation ppt
1. What kind of media institution
would distribute your media
product and why?
Jordan Weeks
2. Conglomerates & Subsidiaries
I think a major media conglomerate studio would distribute my media
product. Out of the big six ( NBCUniversal, News Corporation, The Walt
Disney Company, Viacom, Time Warner and CBS Corporation) I think
as Paramount Pictures is a subsidiary of Viacom that is which
conglomerate would distribute my film. I think Paramount Pictures suits
my film more than the others because I did some research into movie
studios and what kind of films they already distribute or have previously
distributed.
3. Independent film or not?
I don’t think my film would be independent. My film would
require all its development from different sources. I don’t think it
would be independent because the film’s topic is quite wide
ranging and appeals to a lot of people. It would give an insight into
something that is constantly going on around us but no one thinks
how the process may work.
4. Marketing
My film would have for example 10 test screenings across
the country with free tickets to see how my film is received
by the public. My audience would then directly targeted
with billboard ads, TV ads, posters, cinema trailers etc.
Once the test screenings have be seen the public can then
create a word of mouth for my film, this will largely
determine my film’s overall success.
5. Advertising & Promotion
I could advertise my film in several different ways. Before this I would decide
my target audience and think which ways would be best to target them. My film
would be advertised by posters, TV ads, Radio ads and cinema trailers.
Also a massive way for me to advertise my film would be to create a website for
the film and perhaps create games and give them wallpapers so my audience
have something to interact with. Probably the best way to target them would be
to get my film to be advertised on YouTube and at the beginning of YouTube
videos. In terms of the promotion I could get my actors onto chat shows to talk
about the film and promote it further.
6. Access
My film would be accessible at the cinemas. As well as at the
cinemas you could access when there is a network release on DVD
& Blu-ray. My film may then be distributed to cinema and video on
demand companies like LoveFilm where people sign up and pay to
watch the films. My film would then be accessible via rental and
then finally public broadcast on television.
7. Exchange
My film could be exchanged by file sharing, however, unfortunately, with
file sharing comes file sharing through pirate sites. On the other hand
there are other effective ways how my film could ultimately be
exchanged like for example; Fan sites/blogs, Youtube videos on the
movie by ordinary people and Facebook and text messaging.
8. Online Distribution
My film could be distributed online to websites on the
internet to be streamed. Alternatively I would distribute
my film online in marketplaces like Amazon and
iTunes.
9. Exhibition
My film would definitely be exhibited in cinemas, multiplexes
mainly. I think my film would appear in a cinema rather than an arts
cinema as the topics handled in the film are of a wide range of
appeal. My film would then later go on to be exhibited on
YouTube, Public Broadcast or on DVD or Blu-ray.
10. Mass & Niche Audiences
I think that my film would be a mass audience. My film does include
drug use and although that normally would appear in independent
films which generally have niche audiences, I researched into major
studio films and some of them do contain some minor drug use
which mine does. So I decided it would be a mass audience. I think it
would also be a mass audience because the film is about books and
books appeal to a huge range of people of all ages and all ethnicities.
