1. Evaluation Question One
In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of traditional media
products?
2. Front Cover
My magazine cover uses the conventions of traditional
media products such as music magazines as it uses a large
and well edited image of the main artist who was
interviewed in the magazine. This can also be seen by the
use of the smaller image of another artist who is inside the
magazine, as well as the name of many other artists who
are included. This can be seen as following the usual codes
and conventions as it can be seen in many other
professional music magazines which also focus on pop
music. It also uses a range of fonts to draw in an audience,
which is common in magazines as it increases interest in
the issue of the magazine.
3. Content Page
My contents page can be seen to follow the codes and
conventions of a traditional pop music magazine as it uses
multiple images of artists who are featured in the magazine,
which is most commonly seen in pop magazines of this type.
Also, the use of an editors note, as seen on the bottom of
the page, with an image of the editor gives the magazine a
more professional feel, as it is often used in real music
magazines such as ‘Top Of The Pops’. The consistent pink
and purple colour scheme, which can be seen on all of the
other pages.
4. Double Page Spread
My double page spread fits the codes and
conventions of a traditional pop music
magazine as it uses multiple images of the
artist featured and a large heading of their
name, showing them as important as they
are the main feature, which is common in
this type of music magazine as many
artists are known for their attractiveness.
This also follows the colour scheme of the
magazine which is common in pop
magazines which are aimed at a younger
female audience.
5. Colour Scheme
As my magazine is aimed at a young female audience I used a colour scheme which
consisted of pinks and purples as they are seen as typically feminine colours, this is
typical of traditional codes and conventions of a pop music magazine as many of
them are aimed at young girls aged between 10 and 16 who are typically more
interested in these colours, as my magazine is.
